It blocked the distance. This Monday, February 1, our sources reveal how Kate Middleton brought Prince William and Prince Charles closer together. Her passion for photography even played a role.

Blood ties are a priority among crowned heads and are more so on Kate Middleton‘s side. According to our sources, the Duchess of Cambridge (along with Meghan Markle) played a key role in easing tensions between Prince William, her husband, and Prince Charles. A filial relationship that would have been troubled and even explosive before her intervention.

And to do this, the mother of the family put her passion for photography to good use, organizing the realization of a family portrait in 2018 on the occasion of her stepfather’s 70th birthday. In it, the Duke of Cornwall is at the side of the Cambridge family (and their three children), but also Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Camilla Parker-Bowles.

All three generations of Windsor-Mountbatten pose, smiling at the camera. But this is not Kate Middleton‘s only ploy to bring her beloved closer to her father. During the summer, she urged Prince Charles to join her family at Anmer Hall, allowing Her Majesty’s eldest son Elizabeth II to present a gift to Prince George on his seventh birthday, celebrated on July 22, 2020.

All this while shortening his stay on the Isles of Scilly to meet the Prince of Wales in Norfolk. Her efforts are just as evident on the Web: on Father’s Day and Prince William’s birthday, she relayed symbolic clich├ęs in which the father-son duo appears to be complicit.

A better cohesion for the monarchy

Their lack of communication and the “terrible temperament” of Prince William, evoked by the author Robert Lacey in his book Battle of Brothers, distant memories? Sources close to the Duke and his father believe it, assuring that Kate Middleton allowed her husband and Prince Charles to get closer despite their differences. Thus, the father would allow his son to “contribute more” to the life of the monarchy.

“He realizes that his own reign will be shorter than his son’s, so it’s crucial that William be involved in any long-term planning,” says one informant, “they spend more time together.” Could Kate Middleton show the same mediating skills in her spat with Meghan Marke? One fact is certain, however, that by establishing herself as a matchmaker, she is once again asserting her status as a major asset to the Crown.
